If you're new to airsoft you may be wondering what exactly is it? Airsoft is a hobby/sport which simulates real military situations. Players are armed with airsoft guns which fire 6mm plastic ammo at low velocities (low compared to real firearms, usually between 300 and 500 feet per second). Teams play out different scenarios which might occur in a real military conflict. Simulations may include a rescuing a downed helicopter pilot, rescuing hostages, or simply eliminating the opposing force. Whichever way you choose to play there are endless possibilities and no game ever ends the same as the last.
The hobby aspect lies in the guns and gear players use. There is a lot of maintenance needed and most guns can be customized and upgraded in countless ways. Players are constantly working to improve their loadout by upgrading and purchasing new weapons. There are also many tactical accessories which can be used to increase a players effectiveness.
The sport aspect lies in the game itself. To be a good airsoft player skill and physical prowess is required. You must be able to endure the conditions of the "battlefield," and be alert and ready to defeat your opponents when the time is right.
